Blog Candy

Who is hungry for some yummy Blog Candy?

The candy consists of a scalloped box filled with spring colored primas, a "hi" flower rubber stamp, pink metal embellishing dots and some beautiful green & pink grosgrain ribbon. But first I need something from you... I need your creative ideas for games for my daughters 13th b-day party.

I already have one game in mind that I got from a baby shower. The game is called "How well do you know your husband" the expected mother is asked a series of questions about her husband, for every wrong answer she has to chew a piece of Hubba Bubba gum. We are going to play "How well do you know your friend Claudia" with the same gum concept but, if they get the answer right I'll give them a little gift. The game should be fun with 12 girls playing, and in the end Claudia should have a mouth full of gum! Pretty funny. I need another game to keep them occupied.

Things to consider with your choice of game:
The party consists of thirteen, 13 year old girls, they think they are so cool but, they still are little girls.
We are going to be at a restaurant having dessert, so I want them to be some what occupied so they are not literally dancing on the tables.:)
Thanks everyone I can not wait to see what you all come up with! Just leave your ideas in the comments below. I will have The birthday girl, Claudia pick her favorite game Saturday morning and announce the winner shortly thereafter.
Thanks again,

Laura

hello. i do event planning but with limiting the ideas to a dinner table in a restraunt is a toughy. lol it would be awsome if you could get someone that does those henna style drawn tattoos and the girls could get their hands done at the table. another solution would be to find (online) a source to buy the temp. tattoos of that style and the girls could have fun putting them on one another's hands/arms. Another idea would be to "tag" under a chair before you all get into the room to sit down and during the party you can announce that someone will get a small prize if they are sitting on the tagged chair. How about getting tickets and pass out and do a drawing during the event. I also think it is more personal to have each guest write down a fun fact about the b-day girl and collect them all and have the birthday girl read them and GUESS who wrote it.

Hope she has a memorable time!!! :)

If you have just a small walk area you could do the egg trail. Young people love this one. all the participants go into another room and you lay down a row of eggs on each side of the trail and then have one person come into the room and see the trail. then blindfold them and have them walk the trail without stepping on the eggs. While the person is being blindfolded another person picks up the eggs.(shhh)and then you act like each step the person takes nearly missed the eggs. after they finish the trail, you take off the blindfold and show them there are no eggs. They now get to watch the next person from the other room doing the exact same.

hmmm only thing I could think of was a quiz. Ask questions related to pop music stars(doesnt have to be about music could be personal info about the stars), if they get it wrong they are eliminated if they get it right they go on until there is only 1 person left. You could give them each a fancy pad a paper and matching pen to write there answers on (the guest would get to keep them after the party as a treat) and the winner recieves a prize. You could choose anything that the girls are into not just pop stars but I think all girls are into that and I imagine the paper/pens with pink guitars, to fit in with the theme of the game.

A good craft project can be a great time-sucker and keep them busy! Try an embellishing craft like decorate flip flops, slippers or headbands. Or make and decorate diaries! Lots of ribbon, jewels and charms, glitter, fabric paint, etc. I'm sure you get the idea!

Here are a few ideas that I can think of....
1. Put objects in a bag and they have to guess what it is.
2. Have them make a purse, bookmark, goodie bag with all the fun embellishments. Of course you would have to make it simple being at a restraunt.
3. Since they will be seating around a table. Have them pass things around. Like the toothpick with the lifesaver game.
I can't wait to hear what the girls did.
Thanks for a chance.

Ummm, if you are at a restuarant a good game to play is Mad Libs! You have a story with blanks and go around the table and ask the girls to fill in with a noun, verb, adjective, name of person etc. and then read the story outloud when it is all complete. They are hilarious and kids and adults love them! I'm sure you can google mad libs and get some to print out!

Go to the $ Store and buy eye shadow, eyebrow pencils and lipstick (rouge if you can find it) for each of the girls. We were able to buy multi-packs so each girl had her own. Then have the girls apply the make-up without looking in a mirror. Be sure to take plenty of photos. The Dad in the home picked the best make-up job and there were lots of giggles over how everyone looked.

The make-up idea was mine (Swedie). Somehow I neglected to put my name on it!

Happy Birthday to your daughter!

Here's a fun one from a bridal shower I attended...

You take wedding dress pictures (or in this case, you could just do pics of models from fashion magazines or something) and you cut out their faces and paste just the face of a celebrity behind each one (so it looks like the model has the head of a celebrity but still the model's hair, body, etc.). Then you number the pages, pass the pictures around, and each girl has to guess who is who by writing their guesses on a piece of paper. At the end, you read off who each person is and whoever has the most right answer wins. It is surprisingly hard! And most fun when you post male celebrity faces on women bodies :)

My "game" is like the one we do at christmas time when people have to bring a small gift - well in this case you buy 13 small gifts - lipgloss, glitter eyeshadow (target has some cute things). Wrap each gift the same (plain white paper with a cute bow). Write down the numbers 1-13 on a piece of paper. Each girl picks a number. Number 1 gets to pick a gift. Number 2 gets to either take #1s gift or pick one from the center of the table. If she takes #1's then that person gets to pick a new gift. You can have this game take as long as you want. Each girl gets to go home with something cute (other than the party favor) AND they are always excited to see who gets what and who will have something taken away from them.
Hope you like it Claudia - Happy Birthday Miss Teenager!!!

What about making a questionar like what circulates via email...about the birthday girl. "How well do you know Claudia" What is C's middle name?...What is C's favorite color?...Where was C born?...and have a prize for the person who gets the most answers correct.

ALSO...you could do the tray of items....being a teen girl, using lipgloss, comb, polish, make-up, cds, magazine, etc...reveal the tray of items for 30secs to 1 min...take it away, and have them each write what they remember. Have a prize for the person who remebers the most items.

Hope the party is TONS of fun for everyone!

My game is put a dozen or so small items in a paper bag; each girl has to put their hand in the paper bag for a set time and then write down everything they felt in that bag. The winner gets a little door prize - makeup, jewelry, etc.

Wow, stinks to be the later person posting since all the ideas are used up! darn it!
Since you are sitting at a table eating dessert have each girl design & draw a birthday cupcake or dessert for Claudia on a piece of paper, the trick...they have to do it closing their eyes while drawing. Either the best picture wins or the worst whichever way you choose. If they are all messy then put numbers on them and randomly pick a winner. My friends did this at my wedding shower and I had the best time watching them all "think" they were drawing really great pictures, when in fact they all really stunk..ha ha
Happy b'day Claudia and Best wishes Laura!! can't wait to hear all the deets!!
Hugs,
Pam

My 13th birthday was my favorite!!! One game I remember is getting out makeup and nail polish and having a race to see who could put it on the fastest. It was so much fun!!
Thanks!

Here's one for you. Put a mirror into a bag (non-seethru) and have one person pass it around the circle. The one receiving it has to look into the bag and describe, in 1 word what they see. (They'll see themselves) It's pretty funny what they come up with.

We used to play a game that we called Well, I never! Each person was given a stack of something...we usually had red bingo marking discs (I'm old...LOL) Anyway, each person would get 15 of the playing pieces and we'd go around and each person would have to come up with something that they have never done. And then everyone who had done it, had to give them one of their chips. The person with the most chips at the end of the round won a prize.

My idea is sort of like charades, except instead of using mime..you actually use playdough and create your object and others have to guess what you have made.
You put 13 different slips of paper with an object name. (since it is a birthday, you could do birthday related stuff). Everyone draws one and creates their object. You can either go one at a time, and guess WHILE it is being built OR you can do it all at the same time and guess AFTER it is finished.
Good Luck with the new teenager!!

I used to enjoy games where we gave each party goer a paper and pencil and turned out all the lights. They had to draw a picture of the birthday girl, new baby, etc in the dark. Without knowing who drew which picture, the birthday girl would pick the one that she thinks looks most like her:)

Sounds like fun in the forecast! We mostly did girl parties at home, followed by sleep overs, all the sleeping bags in the basement lol. Harder to do in a restaurant setting to me. WE used to get in a circle, spray down our hair w/water, and braid each persons hair in front of you, in many tiny tiny thin braids tied with cut cotton rags, when you took them out in the morning, you had huge, big wavy hair, it was soooo funny! We also did the make up fun, and the weeja board in the dark and levitations! at 11 actually. I think we were too poor to go out to eat, and too noisy perhaps?? :) such great memories. have fun, enjoy! not much help here. bluemoonbynite (at) yahoo (dot) com
